Those set-to-wed couples seeking a religious experience for their ceremony have many grand and sacred spaces awaiting them throughout the country.

Here are five of the most-sacred settings in the United States.

1. St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York City
Few urban churches in the United States rival the majesty of St. Patrick's in Midtown Manhattan. The neo-Gothic-style sanctuary with its long walk from entrance to altar looks fit for royalty, its soaring ceilings and history making it a choice for a large and formal wedding.

2. The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, New York City
Uptown from St. Patrick’s Cathedral is another iconic New York church, an Episcopal cathedral so tall it could hold the Statue of Liberty, according to Budget Travel. It boasts the largest stained glass window in the United States, the Great Rose Window, which contains more than 10,000 glass pieces. With a 13-acre compound, it also features roaming white peacocks.

3. Washington National Cathedral, Washington, D.C.
The Episcopal church has hosted all sorts of events. With its Blenko stained glass and a history dating to 1907, the cathedral's central tower stands 30 stories tall. It also boasts 288 angels and 112 gargoyles along with a massive Great Organ that includes 189 ranks and 10,647 pipes.

4. St Louis Cathedral, New Orleans
Sitting majestically at one end of the famed Jackson Square in the French Quarter, the triple-steepled landmark is the oldest Catholic cathedral in continuous use in the United States, according to its website. City residents have worshiped at churches on the property since 1727.

5. Thorncrown Chapel, Eureka Springs, Arkansas
For those who like the outdoors and an architectural style leaning toward Frank Lloyd Wright, this unique forest chapel, which opened in 1980, is a perfect wedding destination. Noted its website: "The chapel's simple design and majestic beauty combine to make it what critics have called 'one of the finest religious spaces of modern times.'”
