Using websites and mobile apps, hunters can research their trips, purchase all of the necessary licenses and access additional information while in the field.

Here are several websites and apps you can use to prepare for your next hunting trip in South Carolina.

1. South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Website
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources website offers information about the requirements for obtaining a hunting license, public lands open to hunters, and hunting seasons. You can find detailed information about each hunting ground and download copies of the current state hunting regulations.

2. South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Online Customer Sales Portal
You can purchase your hunting license through site's sales portal. You must provide proof of your identity and can use a valid U.S. driver’s license, state identification card, a military ID issued by the U.S. Department of Defense, or a current U.S. passport. You must also provide your Social Security number. If you’ve previously purchased a hunting license, you’ll need your customer identification number to log in to your account.

3. South Carolina Sportsman
This free app, available in the iTunes store, provides information about South Carolina hunting regulations, land open to hunting and optimal hunting times.

4. HUNT App
Available in the iTunes store, this free app uses GPS to show your location and how close you are to public and private land boundaries. It also shows you landowner names, making it easier for you to contact property owners to inquire about hunting on their land. It features maps and satellite images you can view while offline.

5. Trimble GPS Hunt & Fish
Available for Apple and Android products, the full version of this app doesn’t require cell service to work. It allows you to download and store maps of both public and private land in South Carolina. The app includes boundary information for federal lands such as national parks and state lands such as wildlife management areas. It also includes boundary information for private land and, when available, lists the name of property owners so you know who to contact to ask permission to hunt. You can also download a free version of the app that shows your location via GPS, and you can view maps, geotag photos and collect tracks.
