Smith & Wesson has a long history in firearms manufacturing and has produced some of the most popular guns on the market. Here are four of Smith & Wesson’s most popular firearms.

1. Model 10 (1899): The Model 10 is considered a classic revolver, according to Dury's Guns. The firearm has been used by the U.S. military, police officers across the country as a sidearm, and has been considered a staple in home defense for decades.

The Model 10 holds six rounds, weighs 36 ounces, and is also often referred to as a .38 Special.

To date more than six million Model 10s have been produced in different variations. Since the gun was first invented there have been 14 engineering adaptations.

2. Model 19 (1935): This .357 magnum is considered one of the Smith & Wesson’s best guns as it fits the hand well and has an especially smooth operation, as noted by Gunblast.com.  The Model 19 was once extremely popular as it considered a favorite amongst law enforcement officers. Though production has been discontinued, models still remain on the collector’s market.

3. Model 29 (1955): This .44 magnum revolver was the trademark of Clint Eastwood's character in “Dirty Harry.” The Model 29 is considered on the heavy side although it does have a good grip, reports Gunblast.com. There are many different variations of the gun on the market and it is considered part of the “classic series” of the Smith & Wesson lineup.

Eastwood's movies made the .44 Special the most famous gun in modern history with the actor delivering the line that it was “the most powerful handgun in world."

4. Model 41 (1957): This firearm is .22 rimfire pistol is considered “the finest semi-automatic made in America,” according to Holt Bodison of Guns Magazine. The gun was considered an overnight sensation when it was introduced and it took Smith & Wesson three years to satisfy the initial demand for the gun.

Smith & Wesson has been a major contributor to the handgun market since the company was founded in 1852. Today, the company is considered one of the world’s largest manufacturers of firearms, with retail locations in Massachusetts and Maine.
