To date, she has been honored six times with lifetime achievement awards, has won an Oscar and in 1960 she earned her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, just one of the many highlights of her storied career.

Academy Awards
MacLaine won Best Actress for her role in “Terms of Endearment” (1983), following five previous nominations. She was nominated for Oscars for Best Actress in "The Turning Point" (1977), "Irma la Douce" (1963), "The Apartment" (1960) and "Some Came Running" (1958), and as a director for Best Documentary for "The Other Half of the Sky: A China Memoir" (1975).

Golden Globes
MacLaine was most recently awarded for a Cecil B. DeMille Award for her outstanding contribution to the entertainment field at the 1998 Golden Globes. Prior to that, she won for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama, for “Madame Sousatzka” (1988)Terms of Endearment” (1983); and for Best Motion Picture Actress - Musical/Comedy for “Irma la Douce” (1963) and “The Apartment” (1961).

In addition, MacLaine was recognized by the Globes in 1959 with a special award for being “the most versatile actress.”

Primetime Emmy Awards
MacLaine only has one television-related award, winning for Outstanding Special-Comedy-Variety or Music- “Gypsy in My Soul” (1976). The award was shared with her producers.

BAFTA Awards

Award Best by the British Academy of Film and Television, MacLaine won BAFTA Awards for Foreign Actress, “The Apartment” (1960) and “Ask Any Girl” (1959).

American Comedy Awards
While MacLaine has been predominantly known for her dramatic acting, her comedic performances helped earn her a Lifetime Achievement Award in Comedy in 1993.

American Film Institute
The prestigious institute awarded MacLaine an AFI Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.
