North Dakota ranks 20th in a 2014 list of the best states for gun owners compiled by Guns and Ammo. "More than half of North Dakotans own firearms, and the vast rural expanses of the state provide plenty of shooting opportunities." The state received a score of 42 out of 50 based on right to carry laws, restrictions on sporting rifles, National Firearms Act rights, Castle Doctrine and a miscellaneous category.

Here are four spots for firearms and pistol practice in the state of North Dakota:

1. The Shooting Park: Located in Horace, this seasonal gun range is open to the public and offers numerous trap and skeet fields, a rifle range with targets between 25 and 200 yards and three pistol bays. Shooters are warned not to bring "any targets such as glass bottles, propane tanks, TV's, microwave or explosive targets as these are not allowed."
