Arizona ranked number one on Guns & Ammo 2014 "Best States for Gun Owners" list and numerous shooting ranges support the resident's desire to practice shooting rifles and pistols.

Here are six ranges to explore in Arizona:

1. Shooter's World: With locations in Peoria and Phoenix, Shooter's World buys and sells guns, offers firearms classes and provides shooting ranges with 20 air-conditioned lanes. Google users give the business a 3.6 out of five stars.

2. Ben Avery Shooting Facility: This is one of the largest publicly operated shooting facilities in the United States. With a five-star rating from the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the Ben Avery facility is used by more than 120,000 shooters every year. It's located in north Phoenix on 1,650 acres and has been the location of state and national class competitions.

3. Scottsdale Gun Club: The second of three ranges in Arizona to receive a five-star rating from NSSF, this gun club is open to the public. Thirty-two shooting lanes feature state-of-the-art equipment, like sound dampening technology, touch-screen control panels and a 360-degree rotating target system.

4. The Tucson Trap & Skeet Club: This club is the third Arizona shooting range to receive five stars from NSSF. Incorporated in 1948, the gun club is located on 80 acres just west of Tucson. "Home of the Old Pueblo Skeet Open, the Winter Chain Trap Shoot, and the annual Satellite Spring Grand American, our club is one of the largest facilities in the country," according to their website. "The facilities boast 14 Skeet fields (International capable), 50 Trap fields, two 5-stand Sporting Clay fields and five International Bunkers." Also onsite are a 9,000-square-foot club house, restaurant, bar, pro shop and 200 full-service RV hookups.

5. C2 Tactical Gun Range: This range was voted the best in-door gun range in the state in 2013, the year it opened. With 17,000 square feet, 23 shooting ranges and 31 courses, the range offers shooting classes, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and shotgun weddings for adventurous couples. Three reviewers on Google said, "The best shooting range I have been to."

6. The Cowtown Range: This Cave Creek, Arizona range calls itself  "the most famous range you've never heard of." Built near Peoria, the 80-acre property includes a ghost town, an Afghanistan/Mexican village, six shooting bays, two ranges, a shoot house, two rifle ranges, and is available for filming, photography and events. It was originally founded as a movie set in the late 1970s, and has been the site of more than 200 motion pictures, including "Dead Man" and "Knight Rider 2010." According to USA Carry, they also have two sniper and weapon training schools, along with numerous agencies use the facility for training.
