Media reviews of the British climate change documentary "The Great Global Warming Swindle" were mixed which, given the controversial nature of climate change science, was to be expected. The documentary first aired on British television in 2007 and can currently be watched on YouTube or DVD.

The majority of the reviews of "The Great Global Warming Swindle" appear to be biased based upon the reviewer's personal stance on the issue of whether global warming is human-caused or not. A few reviewers did acknowledge the benefits of debate on both sides but those in support of anthropogenic global warming were generally critical of the film and skeptics praised it.

Syndicated columnist Thomas Sowell reviewed the documentary in a column for Human Events. Overall Sowell was impressed with film and he identified the scientists who contributed to the film as "distinguished."

Sowell acknowledged that, "No one denies that temperatures are about a degree warmer than they were a century ago." However, he further stated that, "There is no question that the globe is warming but it has warmed and cooled before, and is not as warm today as it was some centuries ago, before there were any automobiles and before there was as much burning of fossil fuels as today." According to Sowell, the climatologists in "The Great Global Warming Swindle" addressed the idea that people cannot "mindlessly extrapolate" data and say that "we are headed for a climate catastrophe if we don’t take drastic steps that could cause an economic catastrophe."

Author and columnist for The Guardian, George Monbiot dismissed "The Great Global Warming Swindle" documentary as just a way for British television's Channel 4 to generate controversy. He also asserted that the film was flawed because, "to make its case it relies not on future visionaries, but on people whose findings have already been proved wrong."

The student editor of The Stanford Review wrote, “The Great Global Warming Swindle” does not pretend to be neutral or fair-minded. This controversial British documentary, first aired in March on Britain’s Channel 4, is a one-sided attack on the predominant scientific consensus on global warming. Its producer, Martin Durkin, has a reputation for producing controversial films. The bias of this producer and his film is blatant and unmistakable."

Global Climate Scam, an organization that purports to expose "the truth about global warming hysteria," reviews films that deal with climate change. According to its review, "The Great Global Warming Swindle" falls under its "must-see" videos, and the film "blows the whistle on what may be the biggest swindle in modern history." In addition, "Anyone who questions the data or conclusion is an enemy of the state and humanity. Well, bring it on because this is exactly what this well-documented film does. 'The Great Global Warming Swindle' uses a plethora of leading scientists who will not bend to political or philosophical or ideological pressure."
