Climate change activists seem to dominate the views in the national debate on alarming weather trends, but global warming deniers do step forward to argue against this way of thinking. Some of them even take the political stage.

Here are six national politicians who dispute climate change alarmists and activists:

ALERT: Is Global Warming a Hoax? Vote Now

1. Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma has irked climate change activists for years, even authoring a book on the subject in 2012, “The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future.” He once pointed out, “no one has seriously demonstrated any scientific proof that increased global temperatures would lead to the catastrophes predicted by alarmists.” He also infuriates global warming alarmists by noting God is still in charge of nature. “The arrogance of people to think that we, human beings, would be able to change what He is doing in the climate is to me outrageous,” he said, according to the New Republic.

2. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky explains that the Earth goes through climate phases over the centuries that can’t be fully understood by scientists or alarmists. Although he doesn’t want to be called one of the global warming deniers, he says the debate shouldn’t be “dumbed down” in the political arena. He told The Hill the research on climate change is “not conclusive.” Paul also says he favors measures to prevent pollution, but the alarmist claim that the Earth is headed toward catastrophe because of warming temperatures “detracts from the case that we shouldn’t pollute.”

3. While chairing the House Science Committee, Rep. Lamar Smith criticized the Obama administration’s 840-page National Climate Assessment report for stretching the truth for costly and unnecessary climate change regulations. “This is a political document intended to frighten Americans into believing that any abnormal weather we experience is the direct result of human CO2 emissions.”

4. Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is a former House GOP leader and asked his old colleagues to defund EPA regulations that bolster President Obama’s climate change measures. Regulations on carbon dioxide emissions would cause electricity rates to increase, threatening the reliability of power plants. He has pointed out in the past that scientists are “very mixed” on the issue of global warming.

5. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas has said that there should have been more warming over the last 15 years, based on the claims of climate change proponents. However, there has been “no recorded warming” during that time, he told CNN. Cruz also points out what many global warming deniers have noted: that whether there is noticeable cold weather or warm temperatures, the activists always claim it is due to climate change.

6.
Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu from Louisiana supports the burning of coal for energy to promote the large oil refineries in her state. Voting against measures to curb global warming effects, she frequently supports tax breaks for the fossil fuel industry. This has helped earn her some of the lowest ratings from the League of Conservation Voters. Landrieu even urged President Obama to stop making climate change a main issue for the Democratic Party, according to the Mother Nature Network.
