Foods that are high in magnesium can help your body maintain cellular health and contribute to more than 300 essential chemical processes in the body.

The following foods are high in magnesium to help your body get the amount it needs to function well.

1. Spinach
One cup of spinach contains 157 milligrams of magnesium, which is 40 percent of the recommended daily value, according to Dr. Josh Axe. Leafy greens are rich in magnesium, and spinach is one of the darkest of all the leafy greens.

2. Pumpkin seeds
A mere 2 tablespoons of pumpkin seeds has almost 100 milligrams of magnesium, which is nearly a quarter of the RDV.

3. Almonds
These healthy nuts have 80-100 milligrams of magnesium per ounce, according to Health.com.

4. Black beans
These versatile legumes are a good source of magnesium at 60 milligrams per half-cup serving.

5. Whole wheat bread
According to Dr. Mehmet Oz, two slices contain 46 milligrams of magnesium, which can help boost your daily intake.

6. Brown rice
One-half cup of brown rice contains about the same amount of magnesium as two slices of whole wheat bread. Whole grains contain more magnesium than their more refined counterparts.

7. Lentils
In general, all legumes are high in magnesium. Lentils have 72 milligrams per cup.

8. Oatmeal
Another whole grain, oatmeal has 61 milligrams of magnesium per cup. If you don’t like oatmeal for breakfast, you can eat oatmeal cookies or bread instead.

9. Quinoa
Quinoa can make a great salad or rice substitute, as well as being a complete protein. Its 59 milligrams of magnesium per half-cup serving can help you meet the RDA.

10. Sunflower seeds
Just a quarter cup of sunflower seeds contains 128 milligrams of magnesium, which is about a third of the RDA.
