Barack Obama Scandals: 5 Times Pundits Incorrectly Declared Obama's Demise

By    |   Monday, 02 Feb 2015 03:27 PM

During Barack Obama's presidential campaigns and the scandal heavy years of his presidency, some pundits have incorrectly predicted his demise. Despite the president's lack of transparency, his questionable interpretations of the constitution and his laser-like focus on his own political agenda, Obama has survived extraordinarily low approval ratings and even threats of impeachment.

Here are five times pundits incorrectly declared President Obama's demise:

1. In 2014, Chris Wallace of Fox News predicted that if President Obama moved forward with his executive action on immigration, which will grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, Congress would "call for impeachment." While Wallace did not indicate Congress would act on it, he did say, "I promise you, if he does that, if he by executive action goes against Congress and legalizes four million people who are in this country illegally, there is going to be a firestorm on Capitol Hill. You’re going to see calls for impeachment." Calls for impeachment have not yet happened but the scandal is still fresh.

2. During the 2012 presidential election against Mitt Romney, Policy Mic reported 10 reasons why Barack Obama was going to lose the election. Included in that list were issues on the economy, including extreme unemployment, an inability to lead, Obama's policy on Iran, the Fast and Furious scandal and issues with Obamacare.

3. Townhall columnist Wayne Allen Root also predicted President Obama would lose the 2012 presidential election "by a landslide." Root indicated Obama had alienated black voters with his support of gay marriage, Jewish voters with his weak support of Israel, Catholic voters with his stance on contraception, as well as small business owners, just to name a few. Root also stated, "But many millions of people who voted for an unknown Obama four years ago are angry, disillusioned, turned off, or scared about the future. Voters know Obama now- and that is a bad harbinger."

4. In a 2011 interview with NBC's Today Show, former vice president Dick Cheney predicted that Obama would be a one-term president. Cheney's prediction was based on Obama's "overall approach to expanding the size of government, expanding the deficit, and giving more and more authority and power to the government over the private sector."

5. Joseph Farah from World Net Daily predicted President Obama would not run for a second term stating, "It's so obvious, I think most people are missing it." Farah also stated that even if Obama were on the 2012 ballot, he would not win re-election. "I can’t recall a presidential election in my lifetime in which I was more certain the incumbent had no chance to win. It's one of the safest bets you can make. I don't know about you, but I'm literally making important plans around real change taking place in 2013."
