A Second Honeymoon
It doesn't have to be to the same place as your first honeymoon, but it does have to be romantic. And if it's a surprise anniversary trip? All the better. Just be sure to take care of all the details first, so that she doesn't have to. And do it the way you know she would want it done. If you have kids and she is picky about who watches them, then schedule her favorite babysitter well in advance.
But not just any old jewelry. Women want a piece of jewelry they will like and wear, and they don't want to have to tell you what that is. Which sucks for us, because come on, we're guys. Most of us can't fathom how a woman picks out jewelry. Our suggestion? Take her jewelry box to a jewelry store, and hand it over to a sales woman. She'll be able to figure it out, and will love a man in distress over his anniversary gift!
A Romantic Weekend at Home
Women love their homes, and many say they would really enjoy a romantic annivesary weekend that they don't have to pack for. But women think about their kids and/or us first. Even for vacations where she would rather stay at home, she'll go somewhere and have a babysitter come to the house, where her kids will be comfortable.
Sometimes, they want to stay home, but think we want to go somewhere. So plan ahead. If you have kids, ask grandma and grandpa come pick them up for a special "no-parent's vacation." If you don't, get the house all ready for a romantic weekend while she is gone, and make sure you won't have to leave the house once if you don't want to.
