The Fort Hood massacre made it crystal clear, in case anybody had forgotten, that we are at war with a radical theology bent on destroying us. It's time to bring our troops home.

As I was preparing this week's column, I read this from my own e-mails. And it's so good, I just want to share it with you. I certainly couldn't have written it better myself.

The First Amendment reads clear enough. How is it, then, that today, certain people are straining and misrepresenting and actually twisting it completely out of its meaning?

Much like Y2K, Americans are being deluged with frantic propaganda about two other imminent dangers — an inadequate healthcare system and a global-warming climate change that will destroy the world. Don’t believe the hype.

America once was the closest thing to an ideal society this world has known. And it was certainly the envy of the world. We all thought it would go on forever that way, didn’t we? How then, have we become the generation that has begun to see our liberties lost?
