Students insist on being protected by campus administrators from unintended statements inside and outside the classroom. They insist on being safe from hostile or politically incorrect ideas. Some students care less about freedom of expression in general.

When I was invited to debate in favor of the motion “Is BDS Wrong?” at the Oxford Union, I fully expected to lose the vote of the 250 or so students and faculty who are members of the oldest debate society in the world.

The president had an obligation to try to obtain majority support. Not only did he fail to do that, he also failed to persuade a majority of Senate and House members. So this minority deal will go into operation over the objection of the majority of our legislators and voters.

President Obama should address concerns regarding the strength of the inspections regime envisioned by the deal. He should insist on the release of the content of side agreements between the IAEA and Iran regarding Iranian nuclear sites.

The most compelling argument the Obama administration is offering to boost what it acknowledges is a compromise nuclear deal with Iran is this: it’s better than the alternatives. The reality is that there were always alternatives, though they became less realistic.
