Tammy Bruce, author of "The New American Revolution," told Fox News Channel's "O'Reilly Factor" on Friday that America needs to reject the "parasitic" influences of the left, embrace its own greatness and "aggressively spread" American values worldwide.
"On Sept. 11 this nation woke up," Bruce told O'Reilly fill-in host John Gibson. "What I'm suggesting is that Americans - individual by individual - we woke up from a cultural coma. We realized that we had given up this nation to the left and for the last four decades they had hijacked our culture."
Bruce said there are clear signs that Americans have begun to take back their culture, noting that profits for mainstream newspapers have been plummeting, Hollywood box office receipts are tumbling and citizen-based initiatives are on the rise.
"The Minuteman Project is a very good example that we realize now that the government can't keep us safe," the California Democrat and one-time Los Angeles N.O.W. chief told Fox.

She said Washington is reeling as Americans send the message: "We've got to be in charge of our own future and we're going to be doing something about it."
And with Americans ready to take back their culture, Bruce said, the left is on the run.
"In every country it has parasitically invaded - when they realize they're on the losing end, they begin to become panicked," she told Gibson. "And you see that in the results of the public dialogue."
Bruce called for Americans to openly acknowledge the superiority of their values - and do everything they can to spread U.S. influence around the globe.
"Not only should we not be ashamed of this nation and afraid of our greatness - we need to embrace it . . . We need to reinforce our values here at home, but absolutely aggressively spread them worldwide."
