Schwarzenegger Wins NewsMax Poll in Landslide

After receiving approximately 100,000 online votes, NewsMax.com is pleased to release the results of its nationwide poll on the California recall election.

The results offer good news for recall supporters, as well as for candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Asked if they liked the idea of Arnold Schwarzenegger running for governor of California, 77 percent of voters responded affirmatively.

Only 23 percent said they didn't like the idea.

By a landslide – 72 percent compared to 28 percent – NewsMax readers said they would vote for Schwarzenegger.

Polls in California show the vote on the recall may be close.

But NewsMax readers wholeheartedly support the measure, with 87 percent saying they would vote to recall sitting governor Gray Davis.

Davis remains extremely unpopular with voters, with 93 percent saying they have an "unfavorable" opinion of him.

While NewsMax's poll is not scientific, it may show growing support among conservative Republicans and independents for Arnold Schwarzenegger.

While NewsMax has yet to endorse a candidate for the upcoming recall, the polling data will be considered, among several factors, in making such an endorsement.
