Obama Installs Solar Panels at White House

President Barack Obama has had solar panels installed at the White House in a bid to promote the use of "clean energy," Politico reports.

It's the first time the sun-powered panels have been used at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. since President Jimmy Carter.

Carter's nod to solar energy ended when President Ronald Reagan moved in and had them removed.

"Continuing President Obama’s commitment to lead by example to increase the use of clean energy in the U.S., the White House has completed installation of American-made solar panels on the first family’s residence as a part of an energy retrofit that will improve the overall energy efficiency of the building," a White House spokesman said in a statement to Politico.

"The project, which helps demonstrate that historic buildings can incorporate solar energy and energy efficiency upgrades, is estimated to pay for itself in energy savings over the next eight years.''

The announcement comes days after the release of the controversial U.S. National Climate Assessment, which reports that climate change has impacted every region of America and major sectors of the economy and underscores the need for "urgent action."

A number of top meteorologists have blasted the report as inaccurate.

Marc Morano, founder of Climate Depot, told Newsmax's Steve Malzberg earlier this week that the report was nothing more than a political manifesto designed to promote Obama's skewed agenda.

"They've now politicized and made global warming such a partisan issue there's no way they'll ever convince half the country that this is anything other than the lowest base-level politics," Morano said.

"This report is merely a political cover for what Obama is about to do. They failed at cap-and-trade, they failed at UN climate treaties, they failed with carbon taxes.

"Now they've decided that … they're going to start regulating what we exhale from our mouths, CO2, we inhale oxygen as humans. They declare CO2 a pollutant in essence and they're using this to forward the case: 'See we told you so. We've have to act.'"
