Disgraced former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner is still on Twitter and following 196 users after resigning Thursday amid a scandal over sexting and sending explicit pictures of himself to several women over the Internet.

Along with those Weiner follows, 82,406 people keep tabs on the New York Democrat, and many had things to say about the fury surrounding his behavior and lying to cover it up.

Among the more notable followers is “30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin, who wrote: “Weiner’s actions: unconscionable. But reaction is unsettling. Too much of Blog-America are hate filled McCarthyites.”

(Ironically, some political observers say Weiner’s downfall could open the door for Baldwin to run for New York mayor, which had been a long-time goal for Weiner after leaving Congress.)

“Radio shouter successfully upstaged Weiner, which probably built more sympathy for him in room than anything he could have said,” Politico’s Ben Smith said.

It seems that the heckling during Weiner’s farewell news conference did garner support for him from some Twitter followers.

“Because this wasn’t tragic enough, @RepWeiner had to shout over hecklers. All of this is just very very sad.”

Other supporters, including Michelle Smith, regretted Weiner’s decision to resign. " @RepWeiner Sorry to see you go. You were a voice for people like me. Good luck,” Smith tweeted.

In an interesting twist, Entourage Executive Producer Doug Ellin has asked Weiner to play himself on the hit show.
