The New Jersey legislative committee investigating politically inspired closures of lanes to the George Washington Bridge last September may authorize issuing additional subpoenas when it meets Tuesday, Business Insider reported.

The committee, led by Democratic Assemblyman John Wisniewski and Democratic Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, includes eight Democrats and four Republicans. The panel has issued more than 30 subpoenas to the office of Republican Gov. Chris Christie, his campaign staffers, and several Christie aides.

The closures were allegedly carried out by Christie staffers as a vendetta against Fort Lee Democratic Mayor Mark Sokolich for declining to endorse Christie's re-election.

Special counsel Reid Schar is to brief committee members on the status of subpoenas issued thus far, Business Insider reported, citing a source it didn't identify.

Separately, U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman in New Jersey has impaneled a grand jury to decide whether Bridge-gate allegations merit criminal indictment against any of the parties involved. Former Port Authority official David Wildstein, a Christie appointee, is reportedly cooperating with federal authorities, Esquire reported.

Wildstein purportedly told Christie of the lane closing on Sept. 11, 2013, at a memorial ceremony, according to The New York Times. Christie has said he did not recall the interaction.
