Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer found herself having to weigh-in on the "what color is Santa Claus" controversy that was unleashed in response to an article by Slate contributor Aisha Harris
entitled, "Santa Claus Should Not Be a White Man Anymore."
The governor's initial off-guard reaction was: "I've never given it thought." Then she buried her head in her hands.
Once she gained her composure, Brewer took the position, that Harris writes, her own dad embraced. "I would imagine he's white, yellow, black — every color," Brewer said according to Politico
"Santa Claus is Santa Claus to everyone," said Brewer.
She made the comments during an impromptu interview in reply to a question from Dennis Welch of 3TV who asked Brewer to comment on the controversy over Fox New Channel's Megyn Kelly's contention — in retort to Harris — that Santa Claus is white.
Harris had advocated ditching "Santa the old white man altogether" and replacing him with Santa the Penguin a sort of Easter Bunny for Christmas.
