The Kennedys, the Bushes . . . now the Obamas. Politics just runs in certain families.

President Barack Obama’s older half-brother Malik announced on Sunday that he will be running for governor of the Kenyan county of Siaya, Bloomberg reports. The elections will be held March 4.

"Siaya County is facing a lot of problems from poor infrastructure to poverty due to bad leadership," Obama said in a campaign appearance. "I will change this if elected."

The county has a population of about 842,000 people with a staggering poverty rate of 35.3 percent. HIV and malaria are also high in the area, according to Bloomberg.

Obama, 54, will be running as an independent candidate against Oburu Odinga, another scion of a political family — his brother is Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
