The National Republican Senatorial Committee has posted on its web site a joke fundraising email for Democratic actress Ashley Judd, who is considering a bid next year for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s seat.

The fake email is addressed to RichLiberal1@gmail.com. It has a banner reading “Ashley Judd for Tennessee,” only the “Tennessee” is crossed out and replaced by “Kentucky.” That’s a dig on the fact that Judd’s primary residence is in the Volunteer state.

The theme of the letter is that recipients should donate $10,000, $25,000, or $50,000 for Judd to buy a home in Kentucky.

“I know what you’re thinking: how can a person who has said ‘Tennessee is home,’ that San Francisco is ‘my American city home’ and that she ‘winters in Scotland’ run for Senate in Kentucky?” the letter states.

“Well that’s where you come in. We need you to help get Ashley on the ballot, and I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that Judd has grown accustomed to living a certain lifestyle, and that lifestyle ain’t cheap.”

And what’s the ultimate payoff for donors? “Your sacrifice will bring Barack Obama’s liberal, big government agenda that much closer to reality,” the letter reads.
