Obamacare is such a "catastrophic failure" on every level that even the president’s die-hard supporters are abandoning ship, says Tea Party Patriots co-founder Jenny Beth Martin.

Democrats who blistered Tea Party politicians who fought to push back Obamacare’s individual mandate — calling them names like arsonists and political terrorists — are now siding with their foes, she writes in a Politico editorial.

Martin references Sens. Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, both of whom are asking the administration to extend the registration deadline due to the myriad technical issues with healthcare.gov, the Affordable Care Act’s website.

Shaheen has penned a letter to President Barack Obama asking that he delay the individual mandate. Ten Democrat senators — including party heavyweights Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Kay Hagan of North Carolina — have signed it. Pryor, Shaheen, Landrieu, and Hagan are all up for re-election next year.

"The catastrophic failure of the Obamacare website looms like a metaphor for the destructive nature of the law itself," Martin wrote. "Not being able to log on to Healthcare.gov is one thing. Horrified Americans discovering that their health insurance is being canceled is another thing entirely — it put a lie to the promise of Obamacare itself. Just like the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have seen their insurance premiums go up in recent weeks, when their president promised Obamacare would save them $2,500 a year."

The Affordable Care Act is about power, not healthcare, according to Martin, and the American people are beginning to figure that out. She says the silver-lining may be that the "terrible law" is re-energizing grass-roots conservatives.

"Ultimately, this is not about which political party wins and loses; it’s about which policies improve the lives of Americans and which harm them. It’s been said that good policy is good politics. The mirror image of that is also true; bad policy is bad politics. Democrats are awakening to this truth and they may have the courage to join with the ‘arsonists’ and ‘anarchists’ who saw long ago the enormous harm that Obamacare would visit upon us."
