Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., has consistently voted for tax increases, spending increases, and Obamacare, all things that add up to her being Michigan’s worst senator ever, GOP challenger Pete Hoekstra tells Newsmax.TV.

Hoekstra, the former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, has launched a new online ad calling Stabenow “Michigan’s worst senator ever.”

“Well, I mean this is the debate that’s going on in Michigan is exactly where do her failures start? Is it consistently voting for tax increases? Is it consistently voting for massive new spending? Is it voting for Obamacare? Is it being part of a Senate budget committee that has now not passed a budget for over 1,230 days, more than three years since the Senate last passed a budget,” he asked.

“Are they trillion dollar deficits? There are lots of reasons why you could identify her as being the worst senator and that’s what people are debating because the bottom line is the results that we’re seeing in Michigan and what people in Michigan are looking for, they’re looking for solutions and results because we’ve had almost the highest unemployment rate in the country for the last five years. People want that fixed.”

Hoekstra said if elected to the Senate his top priority is to do everything possible to get the economy moving and getting people back to work.

“What are some of the policies that we can do to make that happen,” he asked. “We’ve seen now in the last week as this turmoil in the Middle East has ratcheted up, what’s happening? Oil and gas prices are going up. What do we need to do? We have the capability to become energy independent and have a secure, steady access and supply of energy to the United States.

“We need to become energy independent. That will help give us the certainty that people will invest in America and will help put people back to work. The second thing that we need to do is we need to reform what is the absolute worst tax code in the world. It is a terrible tax code. Improve and reform that tax code to encourage investment, to encourage entrepreneurship and risk taking. The third thing that we need to do is we need to have reform that will save and secure Medicare and Social Security. And then the fourth thing that we need to do is repeal Obamacare, get it out of the hands of federal bureaucrats and restore healthcare back into the private sector.”

Hoekstra said he had a “very straight forward” message to undecided voters in Michigan.

“I’ve been in the House. I’ve been in the private sector. I’ve got the experience and the reputation, the proven track record to drive solutions,” he said. “When I was in the House, I successfully worked with John Kasich on the budget committee to balance the budget for four straight years. I took on a corrupt leadership in the Teamsters Union and had that corrupt leadership removed from office.

“I worked with Democrats and Republicans after 9/11 to secure and reform our intelligence community. I’ve got a record of proven results and solutions on very, very tough issues. That’s what Michigan needs, that’s what the U.S. Senate needs. Someone who knows how to get things done, someone who knows how to move the ball forward.”
