Groupon Inc. has stopped all current and future gun-related deals, canceling discount arrangements for shooting ranges, conceal-carry classes, and clay shooting because of customer pressure following the Newtown, Conn. school shootings.
The Chicago-based company didn't say when or if it would resume its discount deals, the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday. Instead, the company said the “category is under review following recent customer and merchant feedback.” The company also said it plans to review international standards for gun-related deals as well.

According to the Tribune, some businesses are complaining about their Groupon deals being canceled suddenly. One Texas gun shop owner, for example, is urging people to boycott Groupon after the company halted a discount offering with his business for a concealed handgun training course.
Groupon isn't the only company that has stepped back from the gun industry since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings left 20 children and six adults dead. Dick's Sporting Goods stopped selling guns at its store near the school, and has halted sales of some semi-automatic rifles nationwide.
In addition, the private equity firm Cerberus wants to sell its stake in a company that makes one of the rifles that was used in the shooting. The largest teacher pension fund in the country is also seeking to sell out its investment in gun and ammunition manufacturers.
