Newt Gingrich says Hillary Clinton would not be unbeatable if she runs for president in 2016, but he acknowledges that it will be very difficult to defeat her.

“She can be beaten — it’s just going to be a very, very hard job,” the former House speaker tells Newsmax TV.

“You need to understand that Bill Clinton is today the most popular politician in America. Hillary Clinton is the second most popular politician in America, and Barack Obama’s clearly more popular than his Republican opponents. So you’re faced with a pretty powerful team running to the other side in 2016.

“We’ve got to do a lot of work in the next three years to get ourselves ready to compete in that environment. We can win it. In the end, big government, high taxes, big bureaucracy, a weak foreign policy are not good for America, but we need to understand just how big the mountain is that we’re setting out to climb.”
