Conservative columnist Emily Miller has fired back at CNN host Don Lemon for laughing at her after she said "white guilt" played a role in President Barack Obama's winning two elections.

Miller, senior opinion page editor for The Washington Times, had been invited by CNN to talk about Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann’s comments blaming gender bias for her poor performance in the 2012 GOP presidential primaries.

"I've never seen anything like this," Miller said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV. "Don Lemon is daytime TV. He's supposed to be a straight anchor.

"Between him and the guest, he's laughing so hard . . . fake laughing, not genuinely humored, by my comments. He talked over me, he was so rude. I mean, he is not supposed to be an opinion person."

Miller said on CNN that the remarks by Bachmann, a tea party activist, had been "taken out of context" while the former presidential candidate was attempting to explain that many voters are less likely to vote for a woman than they are, for example, for a minority.

"I think there’s a lot of truth to that," Miller said in the CNN interview, adding that "white guilt" helped Obama win votes. When Lemon asked her whether there was white guilt four years later, she replied, "I think so. He obviously didn’t win on the merits."

Then Lemon and his guest, The Root columnist Keli Goff, burst out laughing, according to Mediaite.

In her interview on Newsmax TV, Miller said, "The CNN people had taken it out of context — a lot of people took it out of context — that she [Bachmann] said the country isn't ready for a woman president,  and that's not what she said."

"Obviously she thinks she's ready, because she ran for president. So, I corrected [Lemon] at the beginning, and said that's actually not what she said, you're taking it out of context, she absolutely believes the country is ready for a female president, as do I."

She added, "There's a lot of white guilt involved in electing Obama and re-electing Obama, and I'm sticking to that point. It's not an outrageous thing to say, I'm not some sort of crazy right-wing nut. This is a valid point to make."
