Quinnipiac: Clinton Not A Favorite for NYC Mayor

A majority of New York City voters oppose the idea of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton running for mayor – 51 to 46 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University poll.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg has personally urged her to do so, and Clinton expressed no interest, The New York Times reports.

Among voters statewide, 58 percent don’t think she should run, compared to 36 percent who think she should. Even among Democrats, 50 percent oppose a Clinton bid for mayor, and 46 percent support the idea. The numbers for New York City voters aren’t broken down by party.

When it comes to New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, 74 percent of voters statewide approve of his job performance, compared to 13 percent who disapprove. Even among Republicans, 68 percent approve, compared to 18 percent who disapprove.

As for Democratic Sen. Charles Schumer, 63 percent of state voters approve of his job performance, while 23 percent disapprove. Even among Republicans, 44 percent approve, and 42 percent disapprove.

His fellow New York Democratic Sen. Kristen Gillibrand receives 61 percent approval overall, compared to 18 percent disapproval. Even among Republicans, it’s 42 percent approval, and 35 percent disapproval.
