The truck used by former President George W. Bush since he left the White House in 2009 will be auctioned for charity Jan. 13.
The auctioneer, Barrett-Jackson, announced the sale. Bush has used the 2009 Ford F-150 King Ranch 4x4 SuperCrew at his ranch in Crawford, Texas. Sale proceeds will go to the Fisher House Foundation, which assists military families.
“With a 5.4-Liter V8 engine commanding 310 horsepower, this impressive truck has a luxurious adobe King Ranch premium leather interior and 11,200-pound towing capacity,” Barrett-Jackson said in a release
. Bush and his wife Laura have used the truck to work on their ranch, give tours of the property, and entertain friends, family, and dignitaries.
President Bush's signature appears on an airbag panel, and a copy of a video showing him autographing the truck and driving it around his ranch will be part of the purchase.
"I haven't driven on a street in many, many years, but I have been able to drive this truck on my ranch," Bush said in the release. "I want to thank all those who are supporting the Fisher House. In supporting the Fisher House, you're supporting our veterans. And in supporting our veterans, you're helping America."
The Fisher House Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and Veterans Administration medical centers. That allows the families of current and former military members to live close by when they are hospitalized.
