Barbara Walters has nothing to say about any retirement plans - but left the door open.

After reports last week that she would leave ABC News in May 2014, Walters started Monday's episode of "The View" by saying, "Nothing is going on."

"There were many reports last week saying that I was retiring from ABC and there was an assumption that I would be making an an announcement today. And the paparazzi were outside my home today... However, here I am, and I have no announcement to make," she said to applause.

"But I do want to say this," she added. "If and when I might have an announcement to make, I will do it on this program, I promise, and the paparazzi guys - you will be the last to know."

Monday was Walters' first opportunity to respond to the retirement reports on "The View" because the show aired pretaped episodes last week.
