Louisiana Man's Book Claims His Father Is Zodiac Killer

A new book is being released Tuesday written by a man who claims his biological father is the infamous Zodiac killer, believed to have carried out the unsolved murders of at least five people in Northern California while sending letters and cryptograms to Bay Area newspapers.

According to New York Magazine, Gary Stewart, vice president at a cleaning company in Baton Rouge, La., wrote the 367-page memoir after 12 years of research that started with the search for his biological father.

The book, "The Most Dangerous Animal of All" published by HarperCollins, has so far been kept a closely guarded secret, with the company having only released a brief summary.

"An explosive and historic book of true crime and an emotionally powerful and revelatory memoir of a man whose 10-year search for his biological father leads to a chilling discovery: his father is one of the most notorious — and still at large — serial killers in America."

A publicist at HarperCollins, Tina Andreadis, told New York that the company's lawyers "felt it was legally sound." She added that Stewart's father had a criminal record in San Francisco, such as "forgeries, bad checks," and there was a strong resemblance between his father's mug shot and the police sketch.

"If you look at Gary's photo next to the sketch of the Zodiac next to his father's mug shot, you can see that there is very clearly more than just a passing resemblance," she said. "They look alike."

Andreadis added, "He didn't want to believe. I don't think most people want to know that their father is a notorious serial killer."
