Atheist comedian Bill Maher’s vulgar tweet about religious quarterback Tim Tebow has drawn a penalty flag from people so outraged that they are calling for a boycott of HBO, the cable network that produces “Real Time with Bill Maher,” The Washington Post reports.

After Tebow’s Denver Broncos lost to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, Maher tweeted: “Wow, Jesus just f----- #TimTebow bad! And on Xmas Eve! Somewhere in hell Satan is tebowing, saying to Hitler ‘Hey, Buffalo’s killing them’ ”

Tebow, who shares his Christian beliefs on and off the field, has been criticized for displaying his faith, including short sideline prayers during Broncos games.

Tebow has not responded to Maher’s Tweet. But he told On Faith’s Sally Quinn in an interview earlier this year that he “plays ‘to honor God. But I’m very competitive. You can play to win and still have high character, integrity. You treat others the way you want to be treated.’”
