Social Conservatives Cede to Economic Issues

Economic issues are now taking precedence over social ones. So Republican social conservatives accept that their causes are on the backburner for now, Politico reports.

It needs to stop, because it’s immoral what they’re doing on spending,” Kim Lehman, former president of Iowa Right to Life, tells Politico. “To think that our dollar doesn’t affect families is nonsense. As a social conservative, that’s also part of being focused on protecting families.”

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, which is devoted to fighting abortion, says, “We’re not saying this has to be the only issue.”
