Islam and Buddhism don't count under the spirit of the First Amendment, an Alabama Supreme Court top justice has suggested.

Chief Justice Roy Moore said in a recent speech that the First Amendment only applies to Christians, Raw Story reports.

"Buddha didn't create us, Mohammed didn't create us, it was the God of the Holy Scriptures" who created us," Moore told the Pastor for Life Luncheon in Jackson, Miss., on Jan. 17.

"They didn't bring the Koran over on the pilgrim ship," he said. "Let's get real, let's go back and learn our history. Let's stop playing games."

According to Raw Story, which first reported on Moore's remarks, the justice explained that in the law, talking about God "just isn't politically correct.''

And he said he plans to issue a pamphlet with copies of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution that prove that the founders of the nation, "black, white, all people, all religions, all faiths," knew that America was "about God."

The luncheon where Moore spoke was sponsored by the anti-abortion group Pro-Life Mississippi.

Moore has stirred controversy before. He lost his job as Alabama chief justice in 2003 after refusing to comply with a federal judge's order to remove a two-ton monument that included the Ten Commandments from the courthouse rotunda.

But two years ago, he regained his position in the general election.
