Syndicated radio host Michael Smerconish is launching a new weekly talk show on CNN, The Philadelphia Daily News reports.

"I've long wanted to host a program of my own and I'm appreciative of [CNN Worldwide president] Jeff Zucker for making that dream a reality," Smerconish said in a statement.
"I think the type of content I seek to provide is perfectly suited for CNN's non-ideological brand."

The show will air on Sundays. In addition, Smerconish will give commentary during the week, according to the Daily News.

Smerconish was a lifelong Republican, but endorsed Barack Obama for president in 2008 and quit the GOP in 2010.
