Fox News says that Megyn Kelly, its popular daytime TV host, will move into the network's prime-time lineup when she returns from maternity leave.

Kelly announced this winter that she is expecting her third child this summer. She's still on the air.

The intrigue at Fox is that Chairman Roger Ailes did not announce where Kelly's new show would be scheduled, or whether she is replacing anybody. Except for when Sean Hannity's liberal foil Alan Colmes left after the 2008 election, there hasn't been a change to the most stable and successful lineup in cable news in a decade.

“Megyn is an exceptional talent who has successfully filled and surpassed each role we have given her at the network," Ailes said in a statement, according to Business Insider. "Her ability to command the screen, delve into the facts and lead a debate is what makes her one of the most sought-after anchors in the business.”

Kelly added that Ailes took a chance on her when she came to the network in a largely unproven role, the publication reported.

"Roger Ailes hired me nine years ago when I was new to this business and he had little other than instinct to suggest it might work out. I was grateful to him then, remain so today, and am excited for this next opportunity," Kelly said in the network's statement.

Ailes also says Hannity and the rest of Fox News' prime-time hosts — Bill O'Reilly, Greta Van Susteren, Shepard Smith and Bret Baier — are all signed to long-term contracts.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
