3 Hurt When Weapon Goes Off at Mich. Gun Show

Saturday, 25 Jun 2011 12:50 AM

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. — A 10-year-old girl and two women suffered minor scrapes from fragments after a gun was fired twice accidentally at a Michigan gun and knife show.

The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press report that the semiautomatic weapon first went off about 1:48 p.m. Friday while a customer was handling it at the Gibraltar Trade Center in Mount Clemens, about 20 miles northeast of Detroit.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham says it discharged again when the 64-year-old owner inspected the gun.

Wickersham says the victims sustained minor scrapes from fragments. They were treated at the scene and released.

Authorities say the gun's owner has been banned from future gun and knife shows at the venue, and the incident is under investigation.
