LAKELAND, Florida — Authorities say a man shot and killed a person at a central Florida home, and then shot a pastor and associate pastor at a nearby church.

Parishioners tackled the man and held him until authorities arrived, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

The accused gunman, Jeremiah Fogel, ran through the front door of the church and shot the pastor and associate pastor, authorities said.

The shooting happened early Sunday in Lakeland, about 30 miles east of Tampa, at a church that also functions as a school. The church was between Sunday morning services when the shooting happened.

Neighbors described seeing ambulances and police cars rushing down the street.

The pastor and an associate pastor were taken to a nearby hospital. No information was immediately available on their injuries.
