A Florida couple whose home was foreclosed on wrongly won a cash settlement in court against Bank of America for the fiasco. When BofA continually blew off their efforts to collect the award, they decided to turn the tables, heading to the bank with moving vans and armed police officers to help them seize bank furniture, computers, and cash on the premises.

Warren and Maureen Nyerges said they paid cash for their Collier County home, reports CBS News affiliate WFMY of Greensboro, N.C.

Bank of America, foreclosure, Florida, coupleFive months ago, Bank of America began foreclosure proceedings against the home, even though it had no claim to it and there had never even been a mortgage associated with it. A judge ordered the bank to reimburse the couple for legal costs. After months of attempting to collect on the judgment, the couple took the unusual step of foreclosing on the bank.

"They've ignored our calls, ignored our letters,” said the couple’s attorney, Todd Allen. “Legally, this is the next step to get my clients compensated

The couple and Allen arrived one morning with movers, police, and an order to remove office equipment and any cash in the tellers’ drawers. After an hour of wrangling and confusion, the bank manager finally cut a check to the couple to cover their legal fees.

"As a foreclosure defense attorney, this is sweet justice," Allen said.
