Donald Sterling's estranged wife has come out swinging against the NBA executives who are trying to remove her and her husband as owners of the Los Angeles Clippers.

A report in the New York Daily News says Shelly Sterling is claiming that the league is sexist for trying to wrestle the team away from her.

The paper cited remarks Sterling made in a "Today" show: "I wholly feel that I've done nothing wrong."

"I'm very angry."

She said the league is entitled to remove her billionaire husband as an owner, but she said Sterling made his racist comments about basketball legend Magic Johnson on the now-infamous recordings because he thought Johnson was maneuvering behind the scenes to buy the team from the Sterlings.

But Shelly Sterling also said she thinks the comments were made in part because "I really think, personally, he has dementia," she said in the "Today" interview.

"I don't think it happened overnight. I think it's been happening ... I mean, he gets crazy and yells and screams and hollers one moment. The next moment, he'll talk about something else. Nothing makes sense."

But she maintains that she shouldn't be held responsible for her spouse's bad behavior. "If somebody kills somebody, does the wife have to stand trial, too?" she said.

Donald Sterling, meanwhile, continued to dig a deeper hole for himself when he slammed Magic Johnson in an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper that was meant to be Sterling's big apology.

While he apologized and told Cooper he wasn't a racist, Sterling also railed against the basketball legend in the same way he did on the recordings made by girlfriend V. Stiviano.

"What kind of a guy goes to every city, has sex with every girl, then he catches HIV? Is that someone we want to respect and tell our kids about?" Sterling tells Cooper about Johnson. "I think he should be ashamed of himself. I think he should go into the background. But what does he do for the black people? He doesn't do anything."
