PHOENIX (AP) — A spokesman for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords says the congresswoman went out to dinner in Houston with her astronaut husband Mark Kelly and two good friends.

Spokesman C.J. Karamargin told The Associated Press on Friday that the two couples went out to eat Sunday at The Grotto, an Italian restaurant.

Giffords and Kelly dined with their friends, Tilman and Paige Fertitta. Tilman Fertitta's company, Landry's Restaurants Inc., owns the eatery.

Fertitta flew Giffords on his private plane from Tucson, Ariz., to Houston for rehab two weeks after she was shot in the head in a Tucson mass shooting on Jan. 8.

The Arizona congresswoman has had a remarkable recovery. She was cleared by doctors to travel to Florida to watch Kelly's space shuttle launch, which was scrubbed due to mechanical problems.
