Even as debate swirls on whether climate change actually exists, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s American Public Health Association has released a guidebook addressing the health problems such a phenomenon might propel.

The guidebook warns about increased pollen counts and other factors that could contribute to worsening conditions for those with asthma and allergies. This comes on the heels of the $5.25 million distribution of federal dollars to 10 city and state health departments to “investigate, prepare for, and respond” to the issue, reports DailyCaller.com.

“There is mounting evidence that climate change is responsible for an increasing number of sustained health problems,” said Georges C. Benjamin, executive director of the association. “As the science continues to grow, public health practitioners are facing new challenges to address the issue and education the public and policymakers about these risks.”
