Feisty Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, lit into President Barack Obama in a speech on the House floor Thursday for a series of apologies he said Obama has voiced during his time in the White House.
The president should have been engaged in creating more effective policy instead, Gohmert said, The Hill
reported. "I thought, maybe it would be helpful to track exactly what deserves apology and what doesn't."
Obama apologized for the CIA’s enhanced interrogation techniques used on terrorism detainees at Guantanamo Bay and for the accidental burning of Qurans at a military base in Afghanistan last month, Gohmert said.
But he said Obama hasn’t apologized to the families of U.S. soldiers killed in the violence that followed the burnings. Gohmert also said the president failed to apologize to the family of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, whose death resulted from the administration’s failed "Fast and Furious" gun-tracking program, according to The Hill.
Obama owes Israel an apology for disparaging comments about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made by Obama and French President Nicolas Sarkozy into an open microphone at a G20 summit last year, Gohmert said.
And he said that Obama should apologize to those who oppose his mandate to force religious-oriented institutions to provide employees coverage that includes free contraception, The Hill reported.
