Hilary Hinton “Zig” Ziglar, a globally renowned motivational speaker, author and salesman, died Wednesday in Dallas, Texas, after a short battle with pneumonia, his office announced Wednesday. He was 86 years old.

Beside his alliterative name, Ziglar was known for penning over two dozen books. He is considered by many marketers to be the nation’s leading expert on salesmanship. As a motivational speaker, he has played to sold-out arenas across the globe.

“Zig Ziglar passed from this world today after a short bout with pneumonia. Though his time on earth has ended, he is speaking with Jesus now in his heavenly home. The angels in heaven are rejoicing and his family is celebrating a life well lived,” a post on his Facebook page read.

Some of Ziglar’s better known quotes include: “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want,” and “Money isn't the most important thing in life, but it's reasonably close to oxygen on the 'gotta have it' scale.”

Ziglar is survived by his wife Jean.
