YouTube star PewDiePie added to his woes with the N-word, which he blurted out during a livestream on Sunday.

The Swedish vlogger, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, was playing the multiplayer survival shooter, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, when he let the racial slur slip, Variety reported.

Kjellberg later offered an apology in a video posted to YouTube, in which he explained that the racial slur was said in the heat of the moment.

"I said the worst word I could possibly think of, and it just sort of slipped out," he said. "I'm not going to make any excuses as to why it did, because there are no excuses for it."

Kjellberg went on to state that he was "an idiot" and that he was sorry if he offended, hurt or disappointed anyone.

"Being in the position I am, I should know better… I owe it to my audience and to myself to do better than this, because I know I'm better than this," he said.

The incident is the latest controversy to haunt the vlogger.

Earlier this year The Wall Street Journal reported that there were nine videos containing anti-Semitic jokes or Nazi imagery on Kjellberg's YouTube channel.

Among these was a clip showing him reacting to a screenshot of two Indian men holding up a sign reading "Death to All Jews."

Kjellberg had paid the two men to hold the sign and the video, published in January and later removed, resulted in him losing deals with Disney's Maker Studios and YouTube.

Extremist content such as content on Kjellberg's channel could cost Google millions in advertising as company's refuse to have their ads appear alongside controversial videos.

Ad Age noted that YouTubers revenue could fall to $3 for every thousand views from $25.
