Fans feverishly hunted for clues in the brief "X-Men: Days of Future Past" teaser that was released by the movie's director Bryan Singer on Instagram Thursday.

Singer sent out the series of brief snippets from this Instagram account with the caption: "A full day of #XMen surprises is just around the corner. Follow along on Twitter at @EmpireMagazine and @XMenMovies to see exclusive reveals on January 27th. #Empire25."

What actually will happen on Monday remains a bit of a mystery but it seems like Singer wants to create a bit of a buzz for it.

"Some of the footage is familiar, and there is a considerable amount of (Michael) Fassbender doing his 'I am crushing you with my brain' face," Entertainment Weekly wrote. "But there are a couple of notable new revelations. First: Jennifer Lawrence will do for the early '70s what she did for the late '70s in 'American Hustle.' Second: Evan Peters is actually in this movie! You can get a quick glance at Magneto's son Quicksilver, wearing what appears to be some kind of police uniform."

The snippet also shows a White House under duress, Hugh Jackson's Wolverine wrapped up and sinking, new X-Men Warpath, played by Booboo Stewart; Sunspot, played Adan Canto; and Blink, portrayed by Fan Bingbing, going to battle, and a young Professor Charles Xavier, played by James McAvoy, using his brain power.

"That's a whopping total of nine new shots revealed in the 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' teaser, all revealed in just a matter of seconds," wrote MTV. "If Singer and his team are able to pack that much goodness in just a handful of seconds, there's no telling what's in store when the curtain is pulled back even further next week."

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" will be packed with mutants as the cast from the original X-Men movies join with the "X-Men: First Class" cast in the summer blockbuster. The large cast includes Fassbender, McAvoy, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Lawrence, Jackman, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, and Ellen Page.
