Winter Storm Pax will be delivering another icy, cold snow-filled storm across the Southeast and Northeast this week, hitting the South with primarily freezing rain mixed with some snow while the Northeast should expect between 8 and 12 inches in some areas.
Beginning with freezing rain in Southeastern Texas on Tuesday, Winter Storm Pax will creep eastward and develop into a light to heavy rain and snow mix with the northern parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia seeing mostly snow Tuesday night, while the southern parts of the states will see mostly rain, according to the Weather Channel
The second phase of Winter Storm Pax will come Wednesday, according to Weather Channel meteorologist Nick Wiltgen, bringing icy conditions to the area around Atlanta, just weeks after Winter Storm Leon paralyzed much of the city in late January.

"We're expecting a two-prong winter storm system for the Atlanta area with Winter Storm Pax. The first part of the storm system. . . could bring some snow, especially for the far northern suburbs in particular," Wiltgen said on Weather.com. "Farther south more of a rain and snow-mix. . . and temperatures are going to be mostly just above freezing so a lot of the snow that does fall will melt as it does."
"Then we get the second round especially on Wednesday into Wednesday night, and this could be a major ice storm potentially for the Atlanta area," Wiltgen added. "And it will get colder near the ground, cold enough for untreated roads to freeze and we're going to have rain falling from the sky."
As Winter Storm Pax moves along the eastern seaboard on Wednesday it is expected to give way to a significant snow storm inland late Wednesday night into Thursday morning from Virginia through Maine with a wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow along the coast.
Winter Storm Pax is expected to dump between 8 and 12 inches across most of Virginia, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania with significant snow predicted for parts of Appalachia and northern New England in particular.
