A gas explosion rocked Westminster, Colo., Thursday morning destroying one home and damaging several others. The blast, which occurred around 11 a.m., caused the area to be evacuated.

"We heard the loud boom and ran to the driveway and we saw the roof lift off the house and things just blowing everywhere," neighbor Liz Young told ABC News' TheDenverChannel.com.

The two residents of the destroyed home, as well as their four pets, have yet to be found, NBC's 9News.com reported.

An additional three residents who lived in the Denver Suburb near the blast site and were originally considered "unaccounted for" following the blast have since been located.

"My daughter and I kept smelling gas," neighbor Arlene Gallegos told TheDenverChannel.com. "She said, 'Mama, I can smell gas.' I said, 'Yeah, I do too' and [the smell] kept coming and fading and everything. And all of a sudden there was a big old boom."

Having initially evacuated several blocks surrounding the blast site, emergency responders allowed most residents to return to their homes Thursday night.

"Upon arrival crews found one home destroyed, another severely damaged and several surrounding homes with minor damage," Westminster Fire Department's Diana Wilson confirmed.

Two individuals, one police officer and one Xcel worker had minor injuries, Wilson added.

The wreckage that was once a home is not being searched through by the North Area Tech Rescue Crew.

As a precaution, power and gas service was shut off in the neighborhood while authorities investigated the blast.
