Lauren Cohan's Maggie Greene character survived the "Walking Dead" fall season finale Sunday, but the same cannot be said of two other major characters in AMC's popular zombie-driven action drama.

Greene was the one of dark horses to die in the Governor's all-out assault on the prison Sunday. ComicBook.com was pretty much on the money
with the Governor and Hershel kicking the bucket by episode's end. The Governor faced 1.5-to-1 odds while Hershel had 2-to-1 odds.

"The epic second round of the Rick-Governor battle was much more violent than last season's first round, which pretty much fizzled out," wrote Parade's Joel Keller
. "Lots of folks got either shot or eaten, though most of them were people from the Gov's (David Morrissey) new group and didn't hold much emotional sway with viewers.
"But the death of Hershel (Scott Wilson) at the hand of the Governor, then the Governor's ultimate demise at the combined hands of Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Lilly (Audrey Marie Anderson), made this episode a game-changer," Keller continued.
Corinne Heller of OnTheRedCarpet.com wrote the finale
left some compelling cliffhangers, including the challenge of the good guys being displaced after the prison attack.
"Members of the group appear to have been separated into smaller groups at the end of the episode," Heller wrote. "There's Daryl and Beth, who failed to find the children, the people on the bus — which includes Glenn, plus Sasha, Bob and Maggie — who were left behind during a gun battle and watched the bus drive off ... Tyrese with Lizzie and Mike, Michonne on her own and Rick — nursing a leg wound — with son Carl."
Fans went to Twitter to address the breathtaking final episode Sunday.
