The "Waffogato" — the latest creation from the inventor of the cronut — has put the ramen burger and all other trendy New York treats on notice: this time things are getting charitable.
On Monday, chef Dominique Ansel posted a picture of the new hybrid food to his Instagram account ahead of its official debut at the Taste of the Nation benefit for hunger relief organizations, The Wall Street Journal reported

The Waffogato, Ansel explained, is a combination of the classic Italian "affogato" dessert — ice cream topped with espresso — and traditional breakfast waffles. His creation is topped with maple syrup espresso, which softens up the ice cream and waffle, and is "a little like a milkshake at the end."
Unlike the cronut, the croissant-donut treat Ansel sells from his Soho shop to long lines that often include celebrities, he recommends eating the Waffogato right away to get the full arc of textures as the flavors slowly blend together.
Ansel said he was approached by Taste of the Nation organizers two months ago and requested his contribution to the charity be breakfast-themed. Ansel was game, reporting that he "always like[s] to be challenged when doing new things."
The French pastry chef was soon inspired by memories of his mother making him waffles as a child.
"The food you love is the one you remember," he explained. "Breakfast is waffles for me, it’s such a big item."
He said that, after the Waffogato debuts next week, it will be available at his shop on May 9 for roughly $7.
