The man who was responsible for the fatal watercraft accident that killed Usher's stepson in 2012 was found guilty of homicide by vessel Thursday in Georgia.

A jury also found Jeffrey S. Hubbard guilty of serious injury by vessel, reckless operation, unlawful operation of personal watercraft, and boat traffic violation for the July 2012 accident that killed 11-year-old Kile Glover, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Glover, the son of R&B star Usher's ex-wife Tameka Foster and TV executive Ryan Glover, was tubing on Lake Lanier with a 15-year-old girl when Hubbard reportedly ran into them.

The boy suffered a major brain injury and died after being on life support for about two weeks.

"At the end of the day, I know he didn’t do it on purpose," Foster told Channel 2 Action News of Hubbard, who was a close family friend. "He could've only loved Kile."

Hubbard's sentencing is scheduled for March 5.

Usher, 35, and Foster were married from 2007 to 2009. After their divorce, they went through a contentious custody battle over their two sons, Usher Raymond V and Naviyd Ely Raymond. Usher was ultimately granted primary custody.

There was another scary incident involving 5-year-old Usher Raymond V over the summer when the child nearly drowned after getting stuck as he was trying to retrieve a toy lodged in a pool drain at his father's Atlanta home.

He was briefly hospitalized in ICU but reportedly made a full recovery.
